The U.S. Multicultural Market is growing rapidly. In fact, one-third of the nations population is now minority. Verified by a U.S. Census Bureau report in 2006, the nations minority population totaled approximately 98 million, or about 33 percent, of the countrys total population of over 300 million.
Hispanics are the largest (42.7 million) and fastest growing minority group, followed by African-Americans (39.7 million) and Asians (14.4 million). Hispanics accounted for almost half (1.3 million, or 49 percent) of the national population growth of 2.8 million between 2004 and 2005.
Updates to the U.S. Census Bureau state that Texas has joined Hawaii, New Mexico and California as majority-minority states, in which the combined population of minorities exceeds the majority population. Five states Maryland, Mississippi, Georgia, New York and Arizona are next in line with minority populations reaching 40 percent.
